Dwayne Lewis is a self taught artist who has grown up in the community of Newstead in central Newfoundland. He has spent the last 11 years living in St. John's where he work's as a mechanical technologist in a local engineering firm. He has recently moved to Pouch Cove on the north east Avalon.

Dwayne has been sketching and drawing all his life, and over the last 10 years has been developing his skills as a portrait artist. Recently with the encouragement of a friend, his wife and family, he decided to take up painting. It has opened up a whole new world of possibilities in his artistic pursuits. Most of his free time outside of work is divided between family, art and his love of the outdoors. Growing up Dwayne was exposed to the outdoors and all it has to offer in the way of hunting and fishing with his father, brother and friends.

The inspiration for his first painting "Avalon Brown'' came from his passion for fly fishing and the angling opportunities here on the east coast of the province. The brown trout depicted in his painting was introduced to the Avalon peninsula in the 1880's and has since then become the pursuit of many anglers. Dwayne wants to share his expierences of the outdoors through his artwork.
