I was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1932. At eighteen I joined the Air Force. While in the RCAF, I spend three years in Paris where I studied world famous artists at the Louvre and spend some of my spare time sketching throughout that area.
A short time after returning to Canada, I transferred from the Air Force to the Canadian Weather Service where I worked for 36 years until my retirement.
I am a self-taught artist and have worked basically in oils and acrylics. While in Nova Scotia, I did many paintings of Peggy’s Cove and the coastline of that province. I was a member of the Nova Scotia Artists Association. The sea has always inspired me and since returning home six years ago, I’ve put some serious time into painting the rugged beauty of Newfoundland, it’s coastlines, lighthouses and peaceful glens.
