Born 6th in a family of 9 and raised in Lord's Cove, a small close knit
community on the south coast of the Burin Peninsula. Ron has also been
dabbling in the idea of one day painting and drawing and always doodling in
his past time. Like many others, the opportunity or availability of art
lessons were absent in rural areas and it was not until 1998 when he decided
to take some lessons for the first time with the Ed Roche school of art.
The passion he felt from painting immediately grabbed hold of him and he
hasn't stopped since. Ron says that the yarns that he has in class makes
him re-live where he came from every time he goes to class and leaves him
with a great feeling. Even though he knows that every painting is a lesson
to him, he knows he's not perfect, but improvable.
Ron has had his works in several of Ed Roche's student Art Exhibitions at
the Holiday Inn and has sold many of his originals. This is the first time
that Ron has been encouraged to do some printing of his work and currently
he is working on some Christmas pieces.
